SPS Celebrates Student Achievement

The School of Professional Studies student awards ceremony, held at the culmination of both the Fall and Spring semesters, reflects the SPS’ dedication to supporting non-traditional students, and holding them to the same rigorous academic standard as any College of Charleston student.

The SPS held the Spring 2018 Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, May 9, 2018, to honor the academic achievements of students in the Bachelor of Professional Studies (BPS) program. The ceremony recognized the Spring/Summer 2018 graduates, as well as those students who were named either to the Dean’s List, or the Honor Roll for the Spring semester.  Highlights of the event included the he presentation of the Faculty and GPA Awards, and the induction of several BPS candidates into the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society.

Advancing the Conversation: Examining Human Differences in South Carolina

 On Saturday, June 11th, the Institute for Community Development’s Community Enhancement Coalition (CEC) will be hosting a day of insightful conversations, examining the challenges and opportunities of participating in a diverse society. The event, titled, “Advancing the Conversation,” will include presentations and discussion groups, and will culminate with a lively social, and Charleston RiverDogs’ baseball game.

The Community Enhancement Coalition is a partnership among several public and private organizations, including the College of Charleston, Denny’s, the Charleston RiverDogs, the South Carolina Human Affairs Commission, and Charleston Southern University.  The purpose of this coalition is to establish county and state-level collaborative processes which will help to enhance the quality of community life.

Students Honored at SPS Awards Ceremony

The School of Professional Studies (SPS) recently held an Awards ceremony to honor the academic achievements of students in the Bachelor of Professional Studies (BPS) program. K-12 Education Careers Open House

On Thursday, January 14th, the College of Charleston North Campus and the Lowcountry Graduate Center(LGC) will be co-sponsoring an Education Open House, providing information about graduate programs in K-12 Education. The event, being held from 5:00 - 7:00pm, will provide information about programs for both current and aspiring educators, and will offer prospective students the opportunity to speak with representatives from various graduate programs offered through the LGC.
