Over the course of the first two weeks of classes, the School of Professional Studies was a space of celebration, as the North Campus pulled out all the stops in welcoming new and returning students.

The first week of classes, the SPS participated in #CougarWelcome, a weeklong event inviting the CofC community and alumni alike to welcome new students and share fond memories, or wisdom that they have gleaned from their time at the College. This event, organized by the Division for Institutional Advancement, also functioned as a fundraising effort, with paper pineapples being posted around the North Campus, to signify donations to the College of Charleston.  ChickfilA1

The North Campus giving was specifically earmarked for the School of Professional Studies Dean's Excellence fund - ensuring that all funds raised would directly benefit adult students.  The SPS had set a fundraising goal of $1,000, but ultimately raised double that amount. Dean Godfrey Gibbison expressed his gratitude to all - SPS staff and otherwise - who contributed.

The SPS also recently hosted Welcome Back Week at the North Campus facility.  The event, held August 27 -30, 2018,  offered SPS faculty and staff and opportunity to socialize with students, prior to evening classes.

Several local businesses-  Chick-fil-A of Dorchester Road, Heritage Trust Federal Credit Union, and Grow Financial Federal Credit Union - served as sponsors for the event, providing refreshments for all in attendance.
